Product Description
Optical Mini Glass BK7 Dome Lens
Optical domes are lenses with two concentric spherical surfaces. Sometimes they are being referred to as bent plan parallel plates. Consequently it is customary to define parallelism between two surfaces as the maximum thickness variation between the two surfaces. In perfect domes the convex radius is equal to the sum of the dome thickness and concave radius. Slight departures from that rule are sometimes desired.
These protection covers are high quality optical products which are produced through precision polishing. They ensure clear, distortion free protection for your camera objective or other sensitive equipment.
Dome windows are hemispheres. The two optical surfaces are an equal thickness apart, creating a naturally strong shape that gets tougher under pressure. This makes dome windows ideal for underwater environments and in applications such as camera dome ports and submersible windows.
BK7 or K9L domes are used primarily in meteorology applications. BK7 offers excellent transmission from 300nm up to 2µm. BK7 is a relatively hard material, with excellent chemical durability.
UV fused silica domes: For applications operating in the deeper UV range, Worldhawk offers a range of UV fused silica domes. Fused silica domes are commonly used in underwater applications at extremely high pressures.
Sapphire domes: For infrared applications we can provide sapphire domes. Sapphire is an extremely hard material with transmission of over 80% in the 2-5µm wavelength range. As with fused silica, sapphire is able to withstand extreme pressures, making it the perfect material for underwater camera and missile fairing applications.

Product application introduction:
◇Sapphire Glass Dome Lens Cover and H-K9L Domes Lens Cover are ideal for commercial applications requiring a protective boundary between two environments. Performing as windows, these N-BK7 glass domes allow you to easily protect electronic sensors or detectors without sacrificing field of view. Glass Domes offer superior optical characteristics.
◇Fused Silica Ball lens/Fused Silica Half Ball lens is ideal for the most demanding ball lens applications in the ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared spectra; High Index Ball Lens/High Index Half Ball lens provide for a shorter back focal length, simplifying fiber coupling, due to the high index of refraction; Sapphire ball lens/Sapphire Half Ball lens and Ruby ball lens/Ruby Half Ball lens are both made from Al203. Sapphire features a high index of refraction and excellent broadband transmission characteristics. Ruby half-ball lenses are easier to see and therefore easier to handle for physical applications.
◇When using First Surface Mirrors, the coated surface is to be facing the incident light in order to minimize energy loss by not allowing light to pass through the glass substrate. The mirrors are available in circular, square, and rectangular dimensions. Rectangular first surface mirrors are ideal for applications requiring the mirror to be mounted at 45° in order to produce a 90° bend in the light path.
◇Right Angle Mirrors are available with enhanced aluminum, protected gold, or protected silver coatings. Right angle mirrors reflect incident light at 90°, are easily mounted, and are crucial in many optical systems. These mirrors are ideal for applications requiring precision alignment and high performance.
